Hello to all instructors who use the in-line grading option in the Full Grade Center. In-line grading allows you to preview and make comments on files that students have submitted to Blackboard. The tool that Blackboard utilized, Crocodoc, was replaced with Box this week. To add a comment on a paper, click and drag over a word or words, when you release your mouse, two buttons appear. Click the button on the right that says Add comment to highlighted text. A comment box will appear that you can use to type your comment. Make sure to click the Post button when finished. When you move your mouse away from the comment box, it will close. Students will view your comments by moving their mice over any areas you highlighted. The comments will no longer appear on the side margin as they did in the previous system. Click here to watch a one minute overview video.
Sometimes documents that are submitted by students do not show a preview. Instead, you will see a message window showing a frozen countdown timer displaying how long it will take to convert before you see a preview. A workaround that sometimes works is to exit the grade center and then enter again or to simply download the attached file itself. Blackboard has created a patch that will be applied in the next few days.
